Receiving demos is one of the most exciting times at the Mad Alice Records’ office, as it’s a chance for us to not only hear some new music, but also to see the dedication and enthusiasm of musicians and pioneers alike. But here are 5 pointers to keep in mind when submitting demos so that you can make sure your email is as effective as possible:
- Make sure your tracks are labelled
We’ve had countless CD’s and MP3’s with no band information or song details, meaning that we have awesome music but no idea whose music it is!
- Include your contact details
Include as much contact information as possible, whether it’s a band email address to your manager’s phone number, you can never provide too much contact info.
- Give us a bit of context
Tell us why you want to work with us (Not for an ego boost on our part, we just know that the best records are made when the right people work together) and a background overview of your band so that we know who you are and how you approach music.
- Tell us when your next gigs/events are
Do give us a quick rundown of any upcoming gigs so that if we’re able we will come and check out your band beforehand and also you should note any previous gigs that we should be aware of.
- Tell us what you want to achieve
Make sure that you include what you want from us as a label since it will not only show us that you’re thinking about your next recording process but it will enable us to get a decent head start on sourcing microphones or instruments that you might want. As there is nothing more difficult than trying to find a full orchestra the day before a recording session.
If you have any other questions then just send us a general email and we’ll get back to you within 1 working day.
